A little bit about our Future Gems dance classes
In all of our classes at Future Gems, we are dedicated on keeping a fun, vibrant and positive learning environment while nurturing each and every child to achieving their best. Students are not placed in classes based primarily on their age, but experience, ability and friends are important factors that can determine what class is best suited for them. The class descriptions are listed below.
MAGIC & TUTUS PRESCHOOL BALLET: We firmly believe that little dancers learn best when they are exploring, having FUN and engaging with imaginative props and dress ups. In our Magic & Tutus Ballet class, your little one will become immersed in our fortnightly themes, designed to captivate their creativity and unlock the magic in their hearts. As well as learning the key foundations of Ballet technique, your little one will delight in our carefully crafted story time, imaginative free dance, mindful meditation and gratitude practices.
SNAZZY JAZZY PRESCHOOL DANCE: This Jazz and Hip Hop combo is the perfect solution for those kids that have lots of energy and love to run, jump and shake their bootie to the music. Incorporating a blend of our most upbeat styles, your little one will love learning the foundations of Jazz and Hip Hop as well as exploring their adventurous side with our fun and exciting tumbling obstacle courses. This is the perfect addition to your weekly Ballet class and is a great way to burn off some excess energy!
TEENY TOES MY LOVE & ME: This class is the perfect introduction into the world of dance and will give your little one a chance to wiggle their body, stomp their feet and fly like a butterfly using fun and engaging props. We also encourage a loved one, such as mum or dad, to share this journey with them and participate in the class together with the teacher. As we enter into Term 3 of the year, we transition into our Tippy Toe Combo Program, to provide the perfect stepping stone into our mainstream preschool classes.
JAZZ: Modern and upbeat, this class is full of fun and laughs and is a great way to stay active while also making new friends. In this age level, students learn more advanced combinations and start to develop their own composition techniques.
HIP HOP & JFH (Jazz Funk Hip Hop): These classes focus on introducing students to modern and urban style dance technique, whilst also focusing on accented movement, isolations and tricks. This is perfect for those that like something a bit more funky and ‘cool.’ In our JFH classes, we incorporate elements of Jazz technique; making it a well rounded class to take.
BALLET: Ballet forms the basis of all dance techniques and has a large focus on body placement, posture and performance quality. Although classes are run in a fun and nurturing environment and students do not sit for exams, the classes are still taught from a set syllabus allowing students to learn the correct technique and terminology.
CONTEMPORARY: This style explores the abstract art of dance, drawing from numerous genres, whilst focusing largely on expression and story telling. This class incorporates strength, stretching, improvisation and floor work as well as breathing techniques.
ALL BOYS HIP HOP CLASS: Our boys only hip hop classes take on the same energy and fun as our regular classes, but will give them a space to bond with other boys and make new friends whilst learning cool tricks, moves and combos. With two timeslots to choose from, your son is guaranteed to have the best time dancing like Michael Jackson and breaking it down on the dance floor!
AUTHENTICALLY ME MINDFUL MAGIC: Our Mindfulness & Meditation Program is making a regular return in 2023. Children will learn Yoga techniques, breathing exercises, journalling, gratitude and self love practices + so much more!
THE MENTORSHIP GRADUATE PROGRAM: Our Diamond Level (Grade 6 – 8) marks the last stage of our Gems Program. In addition to their weekly dance classes, students at this level can also take an additional class ‘The Mentorship’ which incorporates technique, strength and flexibility training (based off the Progressing Ballet Technique Syllabus) as well as theorical leadership lessons designed to give them the tools to become a great assistant dance teacher!

Teeny Toes My Love & Me: 1-3yrs
Rainbow: 3-5yrs (combined age)
Sunshine: 3-4yrs
Moonbeam: 4-5yrs
STARLIGHT GEMS STREAM: Kindergarten
Starlight: Kindergarten at school (children who are going to big school in 2024 are welcome to try this class)
SPARKLING GEMS STREAM: Grade 1+ at school
Turquoise: Grade 1 – 2
Sapphire: Grade 2 – 3
Amethyst: Grade 3 – 5
GRADUATE GEMS STREAM: Grade 6-8 at school
Diamond: Grade 6 – 8
