Concert Fun at Wahroonga Dance Studio
You may notice when you get your first invoice, that there is something called a costume deposit fee on there and you think to yourself ‘I didn’t order a uniform or costume, why am I being charged for this?’
We get asked this question a lot, so we thought we would clear it up by writing a blog post devoted to it.
The costume deposit fee is a payment that is made each term for 4 terms, to pay for the beautiful costume that your dancer gets to wear at our End of Year Concert in November. Now a costume is not the same as the class uniform that your child wears each week. The costumes are supplied from both Australian and overseas companies and are the beautiful, high quality outfits that your dancers get to wear up on the stage (and keep for years after!)
Below are some examples of costumes we have purchased in the past… Aren’t they gorgeous?!
In order to reduce the financial burden at the end of the year, we decided to implement the costume deposit fee system whereby we divide the total cost of the costume by the 3 terms so you don’t have to pay the full sum at the end of the year.
For our Mini & Starlight Gems, the total cost of a costume is: $85/dancer/class ($30 paid in Term 1, $30 paid in Term 2, $25 paid in Term 3)
For all other classes, the total cost of a costume is: $90/dancer/class ($30 paid in Term 1, $30 paid in Term 2, $30 paid in Term 3)
If you have come later in the year, then the previous term balances need to be paid in order to stay up to date.
What happens if I don’t think my dancer will participate at the concert?
After years of experience, we have found that often children that were shy initially and did not want to do the concert, ended up being busting to get up on the stage and could not contain their excitement. Unfortunately, we are unable to order costumes without some part of the total cost being paid (as you can imagine, it would end up being very expensive if we did this and did not end up receiving any payment!)
Therefore we ask that you still make the payments so that we can order a costume for your dancer in time, should they change their mind. If by July (when we are about to start ordering the costumes) you know your dancer still won’t be participating or something comes up and you cannot attend the concert, the deposited amount can be refunded back to you. Once costumes have been ordered though, we are unable to refund any money, but your dancer will still receive their costume.
What is included in the cost of the costume?
- An absolutely beautiful and high quality costume that is yours to keep (that’s right – it is not hired!)
- Shipping costs
- Measuring your child
- Materials
- Dressmaking
- Extra props, accessories and hair accessories
- Costume bag
We try our best to keep the cost to a minimum and know you appreciate this too… If you have any questions regarding the costume deposit fee, feel free to contact us by email or phone. [CLICK HERE]
