FAMILY is where the heart is at Future Gems Creative Dance
ABOUT US [FUTURE GEMS]
You might not realise it, but every student that walks through our doors, every new enrolment, every kind word you send me… It gives me a burst of excitement, a burst of joy and I cherish every single one of them. This isn’t a company that is run by several people and has multiple departments and has zero human connection. This is run by your every day gal who has a fierce passion for teaching and a fierce passion for leading.
I am no different to any of you and I try my absolute best to give you all an experience that is truly magical and remarkable. When you join us, you’re not just another number or a goal post I am trying to reach. You aren’t just another person in the studio, that I have no desire to speak to. No, you become part of my family. I care about each of you so deeply and I truly cherish the time we have together.
I am not lying when I say, I still have EVERY single Christmas card, drawing and letter given to me over my decade of teaching. I still remember my very first enquiry. I still remember my very first enrolment. I still remember all the wonderful memories and achievements our dancers have created over the years.
There have been many times when I am out at the shops with a friend and I say “I know her… She came and trialled years ago” or “Oh my goodness! I taught her so many years ago when she was a preschooler” and every time, they look at me like… “WHAT?! HOW DO YOU REMEMBER THAT” (because in most cases, I remember their name!) And the answer is simple. EVERY. SINGLE. CHILD who has entered my family, is never forgotten.
They hold a special place in my heart for years longer than they probably know. So when you join a class at Future Gems, you are not just becoming a team member in the class. You are becoming a part of our overall community and we will support you like family.
ABOUT YOU [OUR DREAM FAMILIES]
Family and community is the core of our studio. When you join us, we don’t want you to feel like you’re just a parent and child at our studio. Instead, we want you to feel empowered to ask questions, to interact with the teachers, embrace the extra events we have on offer and celebrate the achievements of your dancer.
Though parents wait outside of the classroom during each lesson (as many kids get distracted, unsettled and overwhelmed) we welcome the opportunity for you to experience first hand how our classes run, at our end of term 1 & 3 Parent Participation Weeks. We find this to be a great way for you to see just how far your little one has come and how much they have improved, but also to see how tricky some of the steps really are and to be talked through the program and progress points.
As well as this, in term 2 & 4 your dancer will get to perform on the stage in a highly exciting but relaxed and positive Midyear & End of Year Concert. Our parents are often so amazed seeing the improvements and growth of their dancers after each term. By the end of the year, it is so clear to everyone how much they have accomplished and we celebrate this with a graduation ceremony where they gain their trophy and gem to show which level they completed.
We also do Midyear Progress Reports and Certificates, so you can see exactly what skills they are learning in each style of dance and where they are excelling and what steps they can practice at home to improve even more. You will also love the little extra sparkles of magic we add to each class to make each child feel valued as a part of our family. On top of this, they will truly love connecting with other dancers in the studio and their older squad buddies, at our holiday fun events. We LOVE the community we have at Jigsaw and how supportive everyone is of each other.
ABOUT US [YOU AND ME TOGETHER]
Much like school, we believe that the experience we deliver is so crucial in early childhood development and can greatly assist in building resilient, confident, kind, patient, grateful, social and outgoing kids. Starting dance when they are young, is the most beneficial time to start as we are able to instil these core skills and values at an age where they absorb so much information and form their own inner voice critic.
Our programs are carefully crafted to assist dancers in conquering steps that meet their level outcomes, whilst also developing the emotional, social and physical wellbeing. We have constructed our programs so carefully that each stage of the dance experience, flows effortlessly into the next and is designed so that, at each age level check point, they gain new opportunities specific to that gem stage; learn new skills and choreography to challenge and engage them and gain access to new tools and resources to support their learning.
Our programs are not designed to be a casual on and off basis. We have found from experience and many research studies, that consistent and committed effort from the student and family, ensures that the dancer can get the most out of their classes, reach their full potential and progress at the same pace as their class mates. This is why we have designed each of our stages over a 2 year time frame, so that each dancer can achieve the program outcomes and be learning in a way that is appropriate to their age and holistic wellbeing.
Over the years, they will get to experience community events like no other, that are focused purely on the kids having fun, connecting with others and loving everything about their dance family. We have a very precise yearly calendar amongst the teachers that is made up of fun dress up weeks, concert prep weeks with the disco lights and fairy smoke, to our WOW weeks of celebrating our parents, giving out colouring in sheets, student choice of songs and special sticker weeks. We also hold special Teddy Bear Picnics and Popcorn & PJ nights to build community in the studio.
We are excited to be enrolling for the new year. Please get in touch if you are interested in getting started and we’d love to have a chat and see if we are the right fit for you!
